        Common questions

Do we need to install anything on engineer workstations?

No. The ROIQ agent is deployed once on a single machine that can reach your license servers, storage systems, and other data sources. Nothing is installed on engineer workstations. Engineers never see it and their work is not interrupted.

What data sources does ROIQ connect to?

ROIQ connects to FlexLM and RLM license servers, NFS/Lustre storage systems, version control systems (SOS/Git/Perforce), compute job schedulers (LSF, Slurm), and JIRA for project tracking. All connections are handled automatically by the ROIQ agent — no manual exports or scripts required.

Is ROIQ safe to deploy in an IP-sensitive environment?

Yes. ROIQ is metadata-only by design. The agent reads file names, sizes, timestamps, access patterns, FlexLM checkout events, and job records. It never reads file contents, source code, schematics, or any design data. Your IP stays in your environment entirely. Most customers deploy ROIQ without a security escalation.

Can we start with just license analytics and add more later?

Absolutely. Most teams start by connecting their FlexLM license servers and have a live dashboard within minutes. Storage analytics and engineering activity connectors can be added at any time — no plan change, no additional cost, no re-deployment.

        What are Remix Reports?

Remix Reports let anyone take any generated report and reconfigure it — filter by project or team, adjust the date range, change the metric — and publish a new variant in seconds. A BU Director can remix a utilization report into a budget summary; a CAD manager can turn it into a renewal package. No IT involvement required.

        What is NQL?

NQL (Natural Query Language) lets anyone on your team ask plain-English questions across all three data domains without writing SQL or exporting data. "Which project consumed the most storage last quarter?" or "Which tools had denied checkouts this month?" return instant answers from your live data.

How do you handle multi-site environments?

ROIQ aggregates data across multiple license servers and storage systems into a unified view. You can filter by site, compare across locations, and roll up to an organization-wide summary — all from the same dashboard. Multi-site is included in all three plans.

How quickly can we get started?

Most teams have a live license analytics dashboard within 10–15 minutes of deploying the ROIQ agent. Storage and activity connectors can be added the same day. There is no lengthy onboarding, no professional services engagement, and no configuration files to write.

Is there a minimum contract term?

Plans are billed annually — one invoice per year. There are no multi-year minimums and no lock-in beyond the annual term. If you need to cancel, your access continues until the end of the period you've paid for.

        How is engineer count determined?

ROIQ counts the unique usernames that appear across your FlexLM / RLM checkout logs and your VCS commit history (SOS/Git/Perforce) over the trailing 12 months. A person who checks out a tool and also commits to version control is counted once.
